Community Safety Standard
Empowering Young People | Building Resilience | Strengthening Communities
Overview
Who Dares Gives is proud to present the Community Safety Standard—a unique, one-day programme designed to empower young people to build resilience, develop practical life skills, and play an active role in making their community safer. Delivered by a team of elite special forces veterans and sector specialists, the programme draws on elite training principles to offer an experience that is engaging, challenging, and impactful.
The sessions are hands-on, interactive, and designed to inspire young people to recognise their power of choice, helping them build the skills and confidence to navigate real-life challenges beyond the classroom, supporting their growth as capable, responsible young people and future adults within their community.
The day is designed around three key goals:
Supporting students
to face challenges with a positive mindset and resilience.
Equipping them
with practical tools to handle real-life situations effectively.
Providing a platform
for students to voice their own concerns and solutions around community safety.

Key Components of the Programme
This full-day programme blends motivational talks, practical workshops, and collaborative activities to develop students’ confidence, awareness, and sense of responsibility.
Opening Keynote (30 minutes)
Topic: Military mindset, personal responsibility, resilience, making positive choices, and contributing to safer communities.
Objective: To inspire and energise students at the start of the day, encouraging them to reflect on their roles as individuals and team players within their school and community.
Interactive Workshop Rotations
(Four workshops, each lasting 60 minutes):
Positive Choices and Conflict Management
Students learn practical conflict resolution and personal safety strategies, drawing on expert insights from military and policing experiences. The workshop focuses on helping students stay calm under pressure and resolve issues respectfully and confidently.
Physical Training with Team Tasks
Led by experienced military physical trainers, this workshop promotes fitness, discipline, and cooperative effort. Through a series of team-based challenges, students are encouraged to push themselves while supporting their peers—emphasising teamwork over individual performance.
Resilience and Team Challenge
Using hands-on problem-solving activities, this session highlights the importance of teamwork, adaptability, and leadership. Students work in diverse groups to complete challenges, building mutual respect and resilience.
Community Voice – Safety Solutions Workshop
A student-driven session that invites participants to discuss safety concerns in their own community. Students collaborate to develop realistic solutions and present their ideas, ensuring their voices contribute to creating a safer, stronger community.
Closing Reflection and Takeaway (20 minutes)
Objective: To consolidate the day’s learning, leaving students with key takeaways around choice, responsibility, and community impact.

Why is This Important to Schools?
Impact on Students
The Community Safety Standard provides a structured, immersive day that equips students with practical tools to manage real-life challenges. By empowering students to take responsibility for their actions and become proactive contributors to their community, the programme supports personal growth, builds resilience, and nurtures a positive school culture.
Supporting School Ethos
This programme aligns with Ofsted priorities, including personal development, behavioural and welfare standards, and character education. By helping students develop life skills, resilience, and positive relationships, the programme strengthens the school’s mission to prepare students for success both academically and socially.
Engaging Students in Real-World Learning
Our approach blends elite military training principles with practical, hands-on activities that build students’ resilience and equip them with problem-solving skills, improving their ability to work effectively in teams and make positive decisions under pressure.
Benefits to Teachers and Staff
Enhanced Classroom Engagement
Teachers can expect students to return to the classroom with enhanced confidence, better conflict management skills, and increased focus. The programme encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and active participation, which can support improvements in classroom engagement and academic performance.
Reinforced Positive Behaviour
The focus on resilience, teamwork, and respectful behaviour strengthens the school’s culture of mutual respect and accountability. Teachers will notice a positive shift in how students approach challenges, communicate with their peers, and take responsibility for their actions.
Support for Wellbeing
The Community Safety Standard also provides an opportunity for teachers to support students’ mental health and wellbeing by promoting self-awareness, emotional regulation, and stress management. This, in turn, helps to create a safer and more harmonious learning environment
Why is This Important for Parents?
Empowering Young People
The Community Safety Standard gives students the opportunity to voice their concerns, take responsibility for their actions, and become positive role models in their community. Parents can rest assured knowing that their child is being taught not only how to stay safe but also how to make a positive difference in their school and wider community.
Building Confidence and Resilience
Through real-world learning, students will develop resilience, self-confidence, and a sense of responsibility that will serve them well in school and beyond. This programme helps students prepare for the challenges they may face in everyday life, giving them the tools to respond with confidence and maturity.
Contributing to a Safer Community
This programme encourages students to take ownership of community safety and actively contribute to creating a safer environment for themselves and their peers. Parents can feel confident knowing their children are learning how to navigate difficult situations and make positive choices.
